Style & Inspiration
When a couple are planning their special day all the emphasis is on the brides dress, possibly leaving the groom feeling left out. Ideal Bride recognises the grooms suit is equally as important as the brides dress. Here are four key ways for the groom to purchase his all important wedding suit.
These are off the rack and in standard sizes. For those grooms out there that are not blessed with a standard shape, you may find it difficult to find one of these that fits perfectly. Alterations are offered in some stores so be sure to shop around.
You will be offered a choice of base patterns and the suit will be altered to your measurements. Customisations can be made with the fabric and some details. Two fittings will usually be required, the first to take measurements and the second to guarantee the right fit.
If you want a suit that is in keeping with tradition i.e. morning tails or highland kilt, it is highly unlikely that you will have cause to wear it again, so rental would be your wisest option. Hired suits come in a range of sizes, but cannot be altered - expect the fit to be compromised.
These suits are custom made by a tailor to the exact requirements of the groom and are typically hand made. The groom has control over the cloth, shape and detailing. You will attend several fittings and the overall finish will be a suit that fits you perfectly. This doesn't come cheap, but if a classic style and colour are chosen it is a good investment.
