Vintage Dress Timeline
The second World War was over and the fashion world was ready to celebrate. Christian Dior's 'New Look' continued to reign supreme, the signature shape was the radical new silhouette; a below mid-calf length full skirt, pointed bust, small waist and rounded shoulder line, although resisted at first the new silhouette soon became incredibly popular and continues to influence designers today. The tailored feminine look was accessorised with pearls and gloves; the jewellery of the decade complimented the 'New Look' and emanated glamour and elegance. Necklines were changing too we were now seeing jewel or low cut necklines.
