Dornellie Veils: The Alluring Forties

Isle of Wight based bridal accessory designer Karen Robb chose The Royal Hotel, Ventnor as the setting for her latest 1940's inspired photo shoot, "we chose The Royal Hotel as it seemed perfect for the style of the shoot, the rooms have a great layout and are very luxurious and indulgent. The hotel was fantastic, they gave us the run of the place!"

Karen's idea behind the 1940's inspired shoot was to showcase her veils and headdresses in a way that really makes them stand out from the crowd. "I wanted to set the photos in a boudoir during a brides preparation, hair and makeup complete and the veil applied. I felt it was important to show the veil as the centerpiece rather than the after thought, I wanted to showcase the veils without the attention being drawn to the dress."

Karen enlisted the help of her friends and was delighted to have a collection of models that all had their own look and style. Karen tells us "all the models were friends and were actually more professional than the professional ones! They all have individual looks which is great for capturing different styles with one product"

"The hair and make up was amazing I had the pleasure of working with Ruth Hawkins from Harmony Beauty and Charlotte Back from Very Vintage at Scotts Hair Salon. The day wouldn't have been possible without Chris Cowley from Isle of Wight Wedding Photography, he captured the day just as I had hoped, everyone was fantastic."
