Style & Inspiration
Are you the bride one step ahead of the crowd, with sophisticated taste and style? From antique chic, classic and traditional to incredibly modern and contemporary, David Leslie Cakes specializes in creating beautiful handmade chocolate couture cakes that are customised for each individual customer incorporating various trends and personal design aesthetics.
David is a Le Cordon Bleu trained Patissier & Chocolatier with almost 20 years industry experience who has developed a deep passion for sharing his love for all things chocolate with his clients. He is equally talented with all manner of creating celebration cakes plus his enthusiasm for handmade white chocolate truffles, one of his favourites being Champagne and crushed violets!
Whether visiting his tempting and delicious website, hearing praise from another customer, or experiencing the magnificence of one of his amazing creations at a friend's event or other engagement, it's a rare soul who finds David Leslie Cakes to be anything less than extraordinary.
In fact, we found David's delighted customers to be more than happy to share their experiences, creating a strong and deeply loyal fan-base and building his clientele through referrals. That is, when they're not returning to indulge themselves further. Within the first couple years of launching his own brand David created memorable celebration
cakes for various five-star hotels, large corporations and well-known non-profit organizations. While he has since received many additional and sometimes unusual orders, his most interesting request to date came from his lovely friends at the Royal Society for the Preservation of Birds (www.rspb.org.uk).
They were hosting a ministerial event at Westminster for which they desired a four-foot long, seven layer fresh fruit and sponge cake featuring a chocolate exterior modelled in the shape of the world's second largest fish, a Basking Shark. David has also forged strong relationships with other wedding specialists.
How did David Leslie Cakes develop such a strong loyal customer base? David responded with Experience. Create. Taste. Making sure Each Customer Gets An Amazing Experience and Comes Back.
1. Always deliver a Dream Cake - All customers are given the freedom to express their full imagination and deepest desires in creating their “Dream Cake”. Catering for a variety of dietary requirements, including gluten-free and eggless cakes. The Chef is always available to consult.
2. Each cake is fresh - Made the night before the event, giving them a 3-day shelf life. No preservatives, no artificial flavour. No additives are used that compromise the rich taste of the chocolate.
3. Deliver on our promises - Transparent and upfront about our products and services.
4. Each cake is made with high quality organic ingredients -These are carefully blended together and baked to produce a Genoese sponge. The Genoese sponge is then layered with a choice of ganache made from quality Belgian chocolate, fresh berries and Tahitian vanilla cream, and then decorated with hand-tempered Belgian chocolate to the customers design.
5. Larger and fuller than anyone else - Each cake is assembled to 100mm high consisting of three large layers of Genoese sponge over filled with an abundance of fresh berries, Belgian chocolate ganache and fresh Tahitian vanilla cream.
We asked David for his prediction on cake trends for 2012 and here is what he had to say. "Over the years wedding cakes have evolved considerably, and will continue to do so as the economy, services and technology continue to change. I see an increase in the demand for better quality product, more specifically, cakes overflowing with two layers of fresh fruit, imported and sometimes difficult to locate items that make a cake truly unique. at the same time I see more clients opting to use fresh flowers instead of expensive sugar flowers. In addition, I see an increase in demand for mini-cakes as orders trend away from cupcakes in order to achieve better quality and value for their money."
Wedding cakes need to be booked two weeks in advance. A deposit is required. Other Celebration cakes ordered need to be booked with at least two days notice Cake Collection Point & Baking Facility: The Table Cafe, 83 Southwark Street, Southbank, London, SE1 0HX.
