Double Duty Favours

The tradition of wedding favours began many centuries ago and was common amongst European aristocrats. The early wedding favours were know as a Bonbonniere, a small trinket box filled with sugar cubes, the sugar cubes were later replaced with sugared almonds. Traditionally 5 almonds are placed in a box or organza bag and represent fertility, longevity, wealth, health and happiness.

'Many wedding favours are now food related, cookies, cupcakes, macarons and preserves.'

The wedding favour tradition is still very much apart of the modern couples wedding, but with such a wide and varied choice of gifts, many have stepped away from past traditions. Many wedding favours are now food related, cookies, cupcakes, macarons and preserves. We are seeing an increase in couples choosing double duty wedding favours, a personalised gift for the guest that doubles up as a name card. Not only does this make the gift unique to the guest it is also a great way to save space on the wedding table and is budget friendly.
