Style & Inspiration
A family business initially set up by Michael and Rosemary Bubb, Shropshire Petals was originally an arable farm. Michael's mum Daisy who still lives on the farm was the brainchild of all that was to become of Shropshire Petals. A keen gardener and member of the Women's Institute, Daisy used to dry flowers using her kitchen aga and sell them at WI markets.
Dried flowers were very popular at this time due to the Laura Ashley floral era; Daisy couldn't dry flowers fast enough for the demand. She was given some of the farmland to grow Helichrysum which were popularly used in dried flower arrangements; gradually she was given more land to be able to grow enough flowers to sell through retailers and wholesalers.
The demand for dried flowers slowed down, until Michael and Rosemary had an enquiry about colouring dried flowers for confetti, this is when they realised the Delphiniums they grew would make perfect confetti. In 2005 Shropshire Petals was born! The call for natural petal confetti began as churches and venues preferred it to the paper or synthetic confetti. As people became more environmentally conscious, the demand for bio-degradable natural petals increased.
You can now pick and mix from a wide range of colours and different petals including Delphiniums, Roses, Rose buds, Hydrangea, Cornflower and Lavender grain to create your own unique confetti mix to match your wedding theme. New ideas and ways to display confetti such as the Shropshire Box, Confetti Baskets, pretty Organza Bags and Confetti Cones are always being introduced into Shropshire Petals product collection.
With spring in the air, people are busy freshening up and planning exciting ideas for the spring and summer seasons. This is the perfect time for Shropshire Petals to do some spring cleaning and launch their new website. Shropshire Petals have revamped their website which has more of a natural feel to show the natural ethos of life on their Shropshire farm. Shropshire Petals wanted to create a website to complement their natural petal confetti.
Customers will love the new exciting features including an interactive pick and mix section you will want to play with over and over again. Choosing exactly what you want is fun, simple and easy, play around with different colours and petals to create your own unique confetti mixes.
