As stag weekend destinations go, Barcelona is one of the top hot spots. It has a great mix of beach, bars, club, culture and most of all Football. There aren't many European stag spots that combine all of the winning ingredients to an awesome lad's weekend.

Travelling to Barcelona from the UK is extremely easy. A number of budget airlines travel there from all major UK airports and with an average flight time of just over 2 hours, you can leave your house on the Friday morning and be in a pub in the centre of the city by Noon.

Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and second only to Paris as the most visited city in Europe. Millions travel there to sample its great selection of restaurants, tapas bars, festivals, as well as the traditional bodegas, cocktail lounges and late nightclubs.

We would recommend that anyone planning a stag do to Barcelona has a look into what events are being held in the city at the time; there are some great music festivals and fiestas that take place throughout the year, so this may affect availability on flights.

Annual Events

Sonar 14th - 16th June

The International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art. Barcelona's most popular music festival- 80000 people attended last year and filled the city. A ticket-only event.

St Johns Day Festival 23rd - 24th June

Otherwise known as Sant Joan, this day is celebrated throughout Spain with an explosion of bonfires, fireworks and beach parties.

La Merce Festival 24th September

Barcelona's biggest street party is held in the honour of the patron saint of Barcelona Mare de Deu de la Merce. This event hosts a number of activities all over the city and draws in people from all over with events such as: Fire run, Human Towers and The Giants Parade.

When it comes to things to do there is a huge choice of activities. A must for all stag dos is a visit to the ‘mecca' of all football stadiums, the Nou Camp, home of FC Barcelona. It is one of the world's greatest stadiums, with a capacity of 99,354 making it the largest in Europe. A stadium tour is an excellent activity and even if you aren't a big football fan you can appreciate the sheer scale of Nou Camp.

Las Ramblas

Las Ramblas boardwalk is probably one of the most famous streets in Barcelona. It is a wide walkway full of cafes and shops with street performers. There are a lot of bars and pubs located on or near to it, so it is a great central location. Please be aware that it is a main tourist spot and pick pockets are rife here so you must have your wits about you.

Barceloneta

Barceloneta beach is the closest beach to Barcelona city centre. If you walk to Colom at the end of the Ramblas you have about a 15 minute walk to the beach. The beach is a great place to grab a San Miguel in one of the beachside bars or enjoy al fresco dining at a great choice of restaurants. Be aware the beach gets very busy in the peak summer season.

Port Olympic

The Port is positioned next to the Barceloneta beach and is one of Barcelona's most popular nightlife districts, especially with hen and stag parties. Here there is a long stretch of bars and clubs such as; Ice Bar, CDLC, Shoko and Opium Mar. The bars close at around 3am and most people head to the Catwalk club which closes at 6am.
