The Venue
The Talbot Hotel is located in the heart of the North Yorkshire market town of Malton, 20 minutes from the city of York. The Talbot Hotel has recently been fully restored. Classic British design now meets traditional values of comfort and unobtrusive service for an elegant hotel with 26 bedrooms, landscaped gardens and a great restaurant.
A brand new hotel with over 300 years of history, originally built in the early 17th century as a Hunting Lodge and trading as an Inn since 1740, the Talbot Hotel has both led and reflected the fashions and enthusiasms of Malton people. The full restoration by the current owners, the Fitzwilliam Estate, sees the creation of 26 individual bedrooms, each one capturing the elegant spirit of a property that is more than 300 years old.
You will find sumptuous beds, the finest linen, modern bathrooms and luxury toiletries, set to Vivien Greenock's imaginative interior designs. Choose from three types of double room, Ryedale doubles (spacious rooms with walk-in shower rather than a bath), Malton doubles (king-size beds, mostly on the ground floor including one specifically designed for easy wheelchair access) and Norton doubles (with super king-size beds).
The Fitzwilliam Suite is wonderfully luxurious and can be combined with one or two Norton doubles for a large family suite. With views of the gardens and town, this is the choice of honeymooners, couples and families planning a special occasion.
With Malton-born chef James Martin now in charge of the kitchen, the Talbot Hotel tops the list of must-visit places for local and visiting gastronomes. James, who is well known for his cookery shows on BBC and Channel 4, makes the most of the area's renowned butchers, fishmongers, game dealers, farmers and cheesemakers to produce menus of classic but simple food of the highest quality.
The hotel is in the process of applying for a civil ceremony license and offers a wonderful setting for marriage services and wedding breakfasts. The Talbot Hotel guarantees that on your special day, yours will be the only wedding taking place in the hotel. Boasting a beautiful private room that is perfect for up to 40 wedding guests and a marquee for up to 250, the Talbot Hotel is the ideal venue.
On a warm summer's day, you can enjoy drinks and photographs in the exquisite setting of the hotel's landscaped grounds. A dedicated and experienced wedding manager will work with you on all of the preparations so that, come the day, you can relax knowing that every detail has been attended to. Choose from their Silver, Gold and Platinum wedding packages, or create your own bespoke wedding.
